07/ 11/ 2026

There I was, agreeing to deem it just the music; and I went round to my mate Mr G’s house to make some music – and we just fell asleep!

I’d set my alarm for 11 AM, to meet him at 12 as agreed, round at his, but slept right through the alarm and didn’t get out of bed until past 1 PM. So the momentum was lost, and I went round, driven by James, to make music… at first I couldn’t get the hang of the song he was playing, as if it was a split metre, which it wasn’t, and then we put a metronome on, and I did some slide guitar, just in the living room, not recording, and we came to a pause in proceedings where we both drifted off!

Most of the afternoon was spent asleep, and probably a good job too, seeing as how tired we both were. Now my mate has gone off to see a gig with his wife and I am back home after he dropped me off on the way. Couples have a private language. You don’t want to intrude. Coming back home I found the house a lot warmer than normal. In my absence the heating has been successfully turned on. Now we just need to fix the AGA. The oil tank is three quarters full even though we still owe money for it, about £1000, which I could pay out of Benefits money.

Now I eat some student-y food… we used to snack on sandwiches of ready-sliced supermarket meat with mayo in a couple of slices of bread. The meat could be ham or beef or chicken or salami. Mine this time is slices of delicious ham and I get indigestion because I eat too fast.

The song we were doing today was supposed to be about the death of the imagination through technology anyhow. I think I mentioned this in yesterday’s post. I added a verse to Mr. G’s manuscript. As for deeming it just the music, I think I want to do another poem collection with Chipmunka but can’t afford it. It’s actually unthinkable in my financial position, to pay all that money just to save a file.

The laptop hasn’t been moved since yesterday because the cable is dodgy, a tenuous connection, which when at last gained is too fragile to upset. So here I sit typing very carefully!

Mum says we are going to heat the house between 4 and 6 every evening, and then we need the AGA back on. Mum’s going to clean the internal parts out tomorrow. There are no moving parts in an AGA. There are pipes and channels. She thinks the soot the internal parts have accrued is blocking the flame. It’s nice to be warm. That’s why mum sits in front of the fire, drinking G and T, watching Strictly Come Dancing.
